Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of VuAppStore, a marketplace operated by VuLabs Inc from Florida, USA. They are intentionally short because the relationship between us is intentionally minimal.
1. What you are agreeing to
- The software offered through VuAppStore is provided as-is. We make no warranty that any app is fit for a particular purpose. This is a standard open-source disclaimer; it is not an attempt to dodge responsibility.
- You are responsible for your own data. Because most VU apps encrypt your data on your device with a key derived from your password, we cannot back it up, recover it, or restore it. If you forget your password, the data is mathematically irretrievable. See /no-recovery for the full picture.
- You will not use VuAppStore for unlawful purposes. We have no insight into how you use the apps you install — that is the point — but we are stating the condition anyway.
- You will not attempt to defeat the anonymous licensing system, redistribute purchased licenses, or scrape the catalog at a rate that affects other users.
2. What we are agreeing to
- We will maintain the privacy architecture described at /privacy.
- We will publish a warrant canary at /warrant-canary and update it on the first day of every quarter. If the canary is removed or stops updating, treat that as a signal.
- We will not introduce telemetry, behavioural analytics, or third-party tracking. If we ever needed to break this commitment, we would announce it loudly and give you a chance to opt out before the change shipped.
- We will keep the source for the storefront and the licensing endpoints publicly viewable on GitHub.
3. Anonymous licensing
VuAppStore sells perpetual licenses on a transparent, bit-priced model: $0.01 per bit. Specifically:
- $2.56 for a single app — 256 bits of symmetric encryption × $0.01.
- $25.60 for any 10 apps in the same purchase.
- $256 for the full VU Suite, including future apps.
When you pay, our edge functions verify a Monero transaction (or another supported chain) and issue a blind signature on a 512-bit license seed your device generated. We learn that a payment occurred. We do not learn who paid. The full mechanism is documented at /512-license and /how-licensing-works.
We accept these payment methods, in order of privacy: Monero (XMR), Lightning (BTC), Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum and major stablecoins. We do not accept credit cards, bank transfers, or any payment method that would require us to know who you are.
4. Refunds
See /legal/refund for the full refund policy. The short version: a refund is processed by burning the original license token and issuing a new one to the payment address you specify. Because we cannot link a license to a person, we cannot reverse a payment without your cooperation.
5. Intellectual property
Each VU application is licensed under the terms shipped inside its repository — typically MIT or AGPL-3.0. The "VU" name and the design system trade dress (VU-MODERN, VU-BRUTALIST) are not licensed for derivative products without permission from VuLabs Inc.
6. User-generated content
You retain all rights to content you create in VU applications. We have no license to your content because we have no access to it.
7. Termination
You can stop using VuAppStore at any time. There is no account-cancellation step because there is no recurring relationship to cancel. If VuLabs Inc ceased operations entirely, the static site would continue to function from any mirror, including any local copy you have made; only the licensing endpoints would stop accepting new purchases.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, VuLabs Inc and the maintainers of VuAppStore are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including data loss, arising from your use of the marketplace or the applications it distributes. This is standard for software licenses and is not an attempt to evade responsibility for negligence.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts of Miami-Dade County, Florida.
10. Changes
We will update these terms when needed. Material changes will be announced in our release notes and on GitHub. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the change.
